The Top 10 Bad Jobs For The Year 2011

Do you want to know the top 10 bad jobs for 2011? With the worst of economic times in the past few years, many professions suffered as their demand suddenly dropped. This is why it is important to know the best and worst jobs for the year. This is especially important for those who are about to start their careers.Factors like workload, environment, scope for employment, salary and pressure were taken as the yardstick to judge the bad jobs for the year 2011. These include:
1. Oil rig personnel:
Also called roustabouts, their job requires them to do maintenance work on oil pipelines and rigs. The work is quite tedious and requires the roustabouts to be away from home for as long as several weeks in some cases. All these things are certainly not worth a salary of merely $32,143 annually and that makes it a good contender for this year's top 10 bad jobs.
2. Ironwork personnel:
Ironworkers are required to hoist the metallic frames for any construction site like a skyscraper or bridge. The nature of work is very challenging both in terms of the job as well as the danger involved. Every ironworker would probably agree with this job being listed among the bad jobs for 2011.
3. Lumberjacks:
Their job description includes planting, harvesting, cutting and even transporting trees to different factories. And with that kind of a job title, do you even need to think twice why it is counted in 2011's top bad jobs.
4. Roof repair workers:
More commonly known as roofers, they build new roofs and mend damaged and leaky ones. The job duration is quite long with mostly no perks. Moreover, the jobs are not permanent and may cause severe sunburn or other diseases related to prolonged sun exposure. Better to be sweeping floors than to be doing one this for 2011!
5. Cabbies:
No work hours, driving long distances at times, dealing with drunk and rude customers and being nice to them regardless - that pretty much sums up the lives of cabbies. And all that for just $21,000 annually? No wonder it is one of the top 10 bad jobs for the year.
6. EMTs:
Abbreviated as Emergency Medical Technicians, their jobs are unfortunately not even half as sophisticated as the job title is. They basically act as attendees to patients suffering from trauma or other injuries through the toughest phase of recovery. Not only is the job quite taxing but the ridiculously low pay is also nothing to write home about. Quite deserving of a mention in the top bad jobs.
7. Welders:
Yup the same guys whom you always see blazing metals to repair or weld and basically doing what is one of the bad jobs anyone could do. Although their yearly wages of around $35,000 are not half bad, they are always at a risk of giving up their sight for life.
8. Painters:
With a painstaking job that can sometimes go on for days and weeks, painters do everything from scratch (literally) while painting a wall. This includes scraping the old paint, painting it all over and applying varnish, not only inside but outside the building also. Hard work with no benefits and definitely right to be counted among the top 10 bad jobs for this year.
9. Meter readers:
Although among the better ones among the bad jobs, meter readers are required to keep a track of the meters of utility services. They do that by observing and noting down the reading on the meters. The work is quite taxing physically and much like roofing requires a person to risk himself with extended sun exposure.
10. Construction site workers:
These guys do so many things on job that it is impossible to even write them all down, but get paid very nominal in comparison to the work. The job is quite laborious and risky at times, and the job market is stagnant due to the economic crunch. So basically no surprises that it is also a part of the list.
